"Research Infrastructures for Data Security and Privacy" session at the Privacy Symposium Conference 2024

Introduction

While research on data protection was traditionally, relatively, and jurisdictionally agnostic, the worldwide development of national and regional data regulations is paving the way to a new field of research, which requires international cooperation. The need for solid infrastructure to support research efforts is a direct result of the volume and complexity of data which continues to grow exponentially. How can these infrastructures be built and leveraged to protect and comprehend unimaginable amounts of data? This session offers insights into the role of research infrastructures in addressing the challenges of data security and privacy. It will open a cross-Atlantic conversation and share the perspective from different research infrastructures, such as EGI, SLICES and SoBigData.

Key questions and objectives

  • What are the current and future research infrastructure needs for data protection?
  • What are the main components and characteristics of research infrastructures designed to support data security?
  • How can research infrastructures contribute to the development and validation of approaches, technologies, and methodologies for addressing pressing challenges in data security and privacy?

Event Date: 10 June 2024, Ca' Foscari University of Venice - Aula Mario Baratto
